‘Blood Lines’

Price On Request

Ijeoma Rosita Griffin and Angela Brady created ‘Blood Lines’: here, a simple organic cotton A-line dress is embellished with contrasting fabric (offcuts Classic Shetland Donegal Tweed) and piping (Red Salt and Pepper Donegal Tweed). The red piping references the blood which runs through our veins, a connection between all humans: the common denominator that connects us as one no matter the colour of one’s skin, origin, ethnicity, nationality, race, religion or gender.

The dress is embellished with glass ornaments – the 13 ladder charms around the waist stand out as the “steps on the ladder” women take to ‘break through the glass ceiling’, and also as the 13 Moons cycles. They are a poignant reminder of our duty to uplift and support other women in their journey towards success.

The ensemble consists of a knee length dress, a ‘Double’ glass necklace (front and back), 13 glass ladder pieces hanging from belt area, 3 cuff glass buttons and a finger ring. The materials used were white cotton and Donegal tweed (locally sourced) for the dress, and fused glass, Bullseye glass and dichroic glass fusions for the glass components. The dress, necklace, belt, buttons and ring are available for sale individually, please enquire with the Gallery.
