‘Tactility’ skeletal silver bangle with a polished finish by Joel Smyth. The piece can be worn as a pendant as well.

 

Joel Smyth is a contemporary designer and maker of jewellery from County Down Northern Ireland. He recently graduated with a First Class Honours in Ceramics, Jewellery and Silversmithing, specializing in Jewellery, from Ulster University Belfast School of Art.

 

Material: 925 Sterling Silver* (*Pieces still requires hallmarking, which will be applied after the exhibition). Processes and Techniques: piercing, filing, soldering, riveting, polishing and scratch finishing.  Metal sheet thickness: 3mm.

Artist Bio

Joel Smyth is a contemporary designer and maker of jewellery from County Down Northern Ireland. He recently graduated with a First Class Honours in Ceramics, Jewellery and Silversmithing, specializing in Jewellery, from Ulster University Belfast School of Art. He was also awarded a Diploma in International Academic Studies upon graduating for undertaking a year-long Erasmus+ placement at the Latvian Academy of Art, Riga, and an EDGE excel award.

 

Joel’s work has been exhibited locally, nationally, and internationally, as well as online with the Association of Contemporary Jewellers and Belfast School of Art. In 2019, Joel represented Northern Ireland in the UK finals of Worldskills UK, in Birmingham, and was highly commended. Joel has received support from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, and commissions such as making Ulster University’s Excellence awards 2019, and the Northern Ireland International Organ Competition Dame Gillian Weir Medal 2020.
