Andrea’s exhibition piece, ‘Sunlit’, has evolved from a number of processes and techniques that she uses regularly and has used previously in her artwork. Throughout her arts practise she has been fascinated with combining various surfaces and materials along with the contrast of metal/ metallic effects in its various forms. She has used a number of metallic elements within this piece which connected to idea of the sunlit ambience she wanted to create. Gilding flakes have been trapped under and over fabrics which will become more and less apparent as the light changes on the piece itself. Gold, copper and silver guttta were used to create the outline of the silk painted owl and hand stitching with metallic and lustre threads create intricate highlights.
