Seeking Forgiveness by Ròisìn Reid

Work Not For Sale

Róisín Reid started by exploring how various Mythologies are connected by their themes and their stories that show people today what ancient society was like. She started by connecting the themes to figurative ceramics and one way to achieve this was to make the human form simple in shape. This would allow the various drawings, texture and colour to take over the form. The final piece shows that the female torso is a representation and the story is being told through the surface decoration.

This would allow the various drawings, texture and colour to take over the form. The final piece shows that the female torso is a representation and the story is being told through the surface decoration. This is important as it helps create a visual narrative of themes such as suffering which are prevalent in Mythology, and shows the impact they have on the present work through the use of rough and harsh texture which take over the form.
