Artist Bio

Award winning designer Alex Pengelly received a QEST Iliffe scholarship in 2013 to study a Masters in Knitted textiles at the Royal college of Art London.

Her work is rooted in a deep connection to yarn, blending luxury with the technical, and the intersection between digital and handmade.

Throughout her journey Alex has kept a deep passion for fusing an understanding of modern manufacturing process alongside traditional craft skills. Collaborating with a range of partners including high end yarn mills, master block printers in Delhi and the multidisciplinary teams she now works with in her current role.

Since graduation she has worked as a Knit designer in Flyknit at Nike, creating zero waste uppers for performance and lifestyle. In her current role as a Senior manager she balances creative leadership with hands on manufacture; programming and operating production machinery to create new concepts. She holds several design and utility patents for innovations in knit footwear, and in 2023 she received two Runners World Gold awards for her work on the Vaporfly 3 and Invincible Flyknit 3.
