‘Banlaoch’ Earrings

£210.00

Louisa McCartney’s latest designs reflect ancient Irish motifs, like those found on monuments and stone carvings. Her exhibition pieces are part of her ‘Banlaoch’ collection, meaning female warrior or heroine; the word is written in ogham ancient Irish script, and features polished and blackened silver clay, sterling silver and gold gilding. Prehistoric Lunulas, usually gold, would have been worn entirely around the neck for special ceremonial or ritual purposes. The Banlaoch pieces are her interpretation of these archaeological treasures – a piece to empower whoever wears it.

Materials: silver, silver clay, gold (Keum Boo)
