Artist Bio
Karen Hamilton is an artist, designer and maker specialising in woven textiles. She enjoys the slow meditative pace of weaving and the endless permutations the discipline affords.
Her practice is an exploration of light, colour and form in nature, translating memory and capturing an essence of time and place. She is interested in the relationship between science and nature and how their interrelated principles can be communicated through art and craft.
Hamilton recently collaborated with Dr Jonathan Kennedy, Queen’s University Belfast, to translate light as an accurate scientific representation through woven textiles.
Hamilton holds a BA (Hons) Environmental Studies, Queen’s University, Belfast, 2003 and a BA (Hons) Textile Art, Design and Fashion, Ulster University, Belfast, 2025.
