‘Ocean Breeze’ necklace

£950.00

Drawing inspiration for time spent on the West Coast of Ireland, walking on her favourite beaches of Donegal and Sligo, Tullan Strand and Mullaghmore, to name but a couple, Fiona Kerr wanted to capture joy she feels after a day trip to the beach. ‘With the wind coming off the wild Atlantic and tousling my hair, sand in my shoes and sea salt encrusted on my skin, I enjoy experiencing natures elements. The combination of an onshore breeze, the crashing sound of the waves, the power of the sea to change and mould the land, from gentle rippling patterns in the sand to completely changing the shoreline, it’s good to stand back in awe and wonder at the power and beauty of the ocean.’

To create the Ocean Breeze necklace, Fiona has chosen a combination of gemstones, the bright blue tones of turquoise, topaz and a more unusual stone called apatite, combine well with white freshwater pearls and diamonds. She forged the ‘waves’ by hand from sterling silver to swirl round and create the sense of movement, with the gemstones clustered together as if they are riding on the crest of the wave. The turquoise beads are strung on high quality silk thread to a length of 18” and finished with a handmade silver clasp. The main pendant is approximately 40mm diameter.

Materials: Sterling silver, apatite, turquoise, topaz, diamond, freshwater pearl and turquoise beads.
