Artist’s Statement
‘In my capacity as an artist, ceramics has held a profound role, continuously captivating me with
its boundless potential. The intricate artistry required to mould and transform clay never fails to
enchant my senses. Drawing from the beauty of the natural world and human ingenuity, my focus
lies on aesthetics rather than utility. This emphasis on visual allure—incorporating elements like
shape, form, pattern, light, and shadow—establishes a connection with the observer.
Of all the stages in my creative process, I nd the most gratifying moments occur during the
experimental phase with glazes. Pushing the boundaries of materials in the ring process yields
novel and unforeseen results, bestowing each artwork with its distinctive character.
Situated amidst the serene Derry countryside, my studio enjoys proximity to the idyllic Donegal
beaches, serving as a wellspring of inspiration for my artistic endeavours.’
