Artist Bio
Born in Belfast in the 1970s, Tamzen is a textile professional with over 30 years of experience. After a long career in the retail and fashion industry, in 2020, she returned to her first love — the slow, tactile craft of working with wool through wet felting.
Her arts practice, “Tamzen Lundy Designs” celebrates playfulness and sustainability. Inspired by stories and the Irish landscape, Tamzen’s colourful, characterful creations are designed to make you smile and reconnect with your inner child.
Committed to sustainability, she chooses wool as her primary material — a renewable, natural fibre that supports mindful making.
Tamzen says, “working with my hands is a grounding experience — a way to slow down, reconnect, and find joy through texture and touch. I’m passionate about sharing creativity with others and run workshops both privately and in schools or with community groups”.
She now works from her home studio in Maynooth, Co. Kildare — usually surrounded by fibre, up to her elbows in soap lather, dancing to the radio, chatting with her three kids, and gently persuading the cat off the table!
