Artist Bio
Nicole McMurray is a Belfast based artist who creates colourful lively pieces. The most recent body of work that Nicole has created is about raising awareness of Autism – a hidden disability which affects one in thirty children in Northern Ireland of school age. Nicole has gained inspiration from the Autism awareness ribbon to create her body of work. These jigsaw forms have been casted with earthenware slip – the reason behind this is that Nicole wants the forms to be identical to represent how Autism is a hidden disability, meaning there are no physical indicators that someone has Autism. Another reason for using this technique was so that each of the pieces fit together to represent how each person has a place in society.
